Message: I attended 10 private lessons Bahasa Melayu with Ms Sharifah Narimah as my tutor. I had very much fun with Sharifah and did definitely improve my knowledge in Bahasa Melayu. I learned a lot during the lessons, not only the language itself, also more about the Malay culture and their habits.
Her lessons were always very much diversified and well structured and easily overviewed. I was only scared of all the tests which she every time showed up with, beginning of each lesson. ;-) But of course it was good to repeat each lesson again and to learn from the mistakes done.
In any case, she is a competent tutor and has also the motivation and patience to teach which makes you feel very comfortable. Further I appreciate her flexibility. It was easy to make appointments where ever it was best and most convenient for both of us.
To conclude, I can really recommend Ms Sharifah Narimah. However I should be in Singapore, I will certainly book her again.

To whom it may concern,
I have first known Ms Sharifah through mutual acquaintances, and had engaged Sharifah’s tuition services to prepare myself to take a professional examination on the Malay language which I am obligated to take by the Singapore civil service.
I am happy to say that I have since passed the examination, and I am writing here to say that credit should be given to Sharifah for her efforts to assist me in grasping a better understanding of the language, and for her patience in spending many a weekend in walking through with me the complexities of Malay grammar structure in a manner which makes for easier understanding.
This was something of a miracle, given that I started with zero background in Malay and was expected to reach a secondary school standard within a very short time span.
I have no qualms about recommending Sharifah to anybody who requires similar coaching in Malay, whether to take a similar examination, or for picking up conversational skills prior to moving to a Malay-only environment.
Once more, I would like to extend my thanks to Sharifah for her dedication to her students.

Message: I learnt 10 weeks of conversational Malay with Sharifah and thoroughly enjoyed every lesson of it. Sharifah is an excellent tutor who was able to explain everything in a clear and concise manner to me. Her immense experience in teaching Malay is evident in the way she delivers the lesson smoothly and is able to clarify any doubts that I have on the spot. I liked the fact that her lessons were very structured, with every lesson revolving around a theme (e.g. food items, household items). She provided me with comprehensive notes followed by a short quiz the following week to help me keep track of my progress. I was taught various Malay phrases, which were practical and applicable to day-to-day conversation. The lessons were also very interactive and interesting, with various opportunities for me to practise what I had learnt. I have greatly benefited from Sharifah's teaching and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a competent Malay tutor.

Message: Having Malay classes with Sharifah has been quite enjoyable for me and
my friends. Sharifah is very patient and takes time to explain to use
the different usage of each word. She tries her best to answer all our
questions and tries to give us different examples to illustrate her
points. We love the fact that she can be more flexible with the lesson
schedule (especially since my friends and I always have things that
crop up last minute) which is far better than what other Malay language

I enrolled in an intensive Malay language course with Ms. Narimah between Aug 23rd and Sept 8th 2005 in Singapore. I found her advertisement on the internet and contacted her about the course. Ms. Narimah was prompt with her response and provided me with a detailed course outline that described her 10-unit syllabus. She satisfactorily answered all questions that I had posed her prior to the beginning the first unit.
During the course, Ms. Narimah adjusted her teaching style to fit my learning needs. She was able to explain concepts and provided adequate examples to support her lessons. Ms. Narimah was effective in providing complementary and contrastive analyses between Malay and English to highlight similarities and differences between these languages.
